Walmart has come under fire for serious labour rights violations in its garment supply chain. In a recent report Jobs with Justice Education Fund and Asia Floor Wage Alliance investigated conditions in the major retailer’s supply chains in India, Cambodia and Indonesia.
The report details numerous instances of rampant wage theft, violations of internationally recognised rights to create and join unions and chronic gender discrimination and sexual harassment for factory managers throughout the garment sector in all three countries.
The report also slammed Walmart for its failure to respond when concerns were raised, describing the retailer as "notorious for being the most difficult large brand to communicate with.”
