Cyclone Nargis has inflicted terrible damage to areas of Burma.
HWW recently met with the MAP Foundation, an organisation based in Thailand which works with refugees from Burma. Many of these refugees work in factories on the border and other parts of Thailand, as domestic workers, in the construction and fishing industries. Although many of these refugees come from the East of Burma, which is not directly affected by the cyclone, they have relatives and friends in the affected regions. MAP Foundation is also expecting more refugees to cross into Thailand.
If you would like to express solidarity with the people of Burma by making a donation through MAP, you can donate for medical kits organised by a clinic based in Thailand. For more information, see the MAP website at:
If you prefer to make a donation through HWW, you can send a cheque to Homeworkers Worldwide Appeal Fund. We will collect any donations and send them directly to MAP.
