On 30th June, 2006, Hilary Benn, Secretary of State for International Development, UK government, launched the We Work at Home training manual, at an event hosted by Professor Ruth Pearson, Centre for Development Studies, University of Leeds, UK.
In June 2006, Adithi in Patna and Read Foundation in Pudukkottai, Tamilnadu, both held meetings to remember Viji Srinivasan, regional coordinator for HWW, who died last year.
Homeworkers organisations in Latin America, Europe and South Asia launched the new Federation of Homeworkers Worldwide (FHWW). On May 1st, 2006, on all continents organisations joined marches, held meetings and generally demanded recognition and rights for women homeworkers, as workers. The FHWW aims to build a democratic, representative organisation as part of the international movement.
