In Lithuania, there are a large number of informal workers both in traditional handicrafts and modern industries, some of whom are homebased. Since Lithuania gained its independence, traditional markets for handicrafts and much formal employment has disappeared. Now many women and men are working informally. Many women work in small workshops producing clothes for Western markets.
